“You have never really lived until you have done something for someone who can never repay you” – quoted by ‘Unknown’
While most are sound asleep, Richwell was in the midst a massive bustling kitchen prepping food for the less fortunate at 6.30am Saturday.
As we entered, some of us got a little worried as we passed by huge pots stirred with a ladle the size of a golf club – most of us are ladies with delicate arms. Thankfully, we were assigned to the breezy work of chopping cabbages, peeling potatoes and packing. And what humorous sight it was; watching our male colleagues donning hairnets for the first time!
We slogged it out for 2.5 hours straight but had a blast doing it together as one family. It was a refreshing change moving away from staring at our computer screens 5 days a week to looking at baskets of cabbages and chopping them (haha)
Despite the sweat and grind, it was a humbling experience and each of us walked out with a sense of gratefulness, growth and a fresh perspective in our view of life.
What a perfect way to end 2017!
